Welcome to Forge Way FC
Forging a new experience for Girls and Women in football
Forge Way FC football club are dedicated to inspiring girls and women to play the game they love. The name is inspired by Kirkstall Forge, and the motivated, passionate women who saw the value in taking over a near derelict building and turning it into a thriving iron business, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Beecroft, forging the way for other women. It doesn’t feel long since there just weren’t opportunities for many women and girls to play football. Some may remember seeing women’s football starting to appear on the television but may also remember the many negative comments that came with it. Thankfully things are progressing! More and more we are seeing young girls getting excited about football, talking about their favourite players, who inspires them, dreaming of becoming a professional footballer and we’re here for it!
Our vision centres around creating a positive environment where football can be enjoyed by all, with a dedicated female focus to allow you to learn and develop in the way that is best for you. We’re committed to supporting and developing our team of passionate coaches & managers; securing safe, quality facilities; offering entry to the sport at all ages, forging a pathway into women’s football and ensuring that you have the opportunity to play for as long as you like.
We know that there are many reasons why you want to play football; being part of a team, getting fit, developing new skills, making new friends or just being part of the beautiful game – we’re providing a space for all this and much more.
It is important to us that everyone who wants to be involved with the club is given the opportunity. We’re creating a community around the game encouraging parents, carers, family and friends to get involved in the club. And making sure players and all those involved have their voices and opinions heard – after all, the club is here for you. We provide regular feedback and communication to our members to ensure that everyone’s kept in the loop and also offer 1-1 sessions to support individual player development.
We are a club who values the individual players and the team; promotes respect and positive encouragement for our girls and women and who is dedicated to development, in whatever form it is needed, from starting out to academy ready.
It’s an exciting time for women and girls football – come and be part it with us!
